1.)Scouts should remember to return all Troop gear tonight, as we will be getting ready for the next couple of campouts. Please see Samarth’s earlier e-mail for additional information.

2.)Scouts and Adults need to sign up for the Class “B” shirt, if you need one or have out grown your old one. The red Class “B” shirt is required for the West Point Camporee, so please sign up tonight as the order is going in tomorrow.

3.)All Scouts planning to attend West Point are required to attend all meeting between now and our trip to West Point, as the Troop will be working towards getting ready for this trip and everyone should be properly prepared.

4.)Scouts should remember to bring in their Summer Camp Merit Badge selection sheet, so that we can make sure everyone is properly registered for Summer Camp.

5.)Scouts planning on attending the April 11th backpacking trip should come prepared tonight to begin planning for that trip.

6.)Reminder that the Troop will be holding elections for the positions of Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader at tonight’smeeting. Those Scouts that are elected will hold the positions until June, at which point we will likely be restructuring the Troop’s Patrols and overall youth Leadership for the Summer and Fall. (More details to be provided at tonight’s meeting)

7.)Finally, if time permits, we will begin reviewing the results of the First Aid Quiz that the Scouts took last week. Scouts should definitely be reviewing the First Aid Advancement requirements in order to get signed off, as the test results were definitely not favorable to having a working knowledge of the required material.

West Point - Countdown/Information

3/29/2015

The countdown to the West Point Camporee has begun, but in order to be ready please note the following;

1.) We need a final headcount and confirmation on the Scouts and Adults that are actually planning to attend, as we now have a waiting list. Please check your email for a list of who has committed to attend. If your plans have changed and you can no longer attend, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can register Scouts on the waiting list for this event.

2.) All Scouts planning on attending West Point MUST be in attendance at all the remaining Troop meetings, as well as try to attend the training hike and April Campout. It is important that everyone attending come to the meetings as we continue to organize for this event.

3.) Class “A” and Class “B” shirts are mandatory for this event. The final order will be placed on Tuesday, so that they will arrive in time. Please ensure that your Class “B” shirt fits properly, and sign-up for a new one if you have out grown your last shirt. So that everyone knows, we only order Adults sizes (Small, Medium, Large, X-large and 2XL)

4.) Over the next couple of weeks the Scouts will be getting the Troop gear organized and ready for the trip, figuring out how to prepare the Troop for the competitions at West Point, and organizing the Patrols. There will be at least two shakedowns between now and our departure for West Point.

5.) As a reminder the Troop will be leaving for West Point on Friday, May 1st at around 7:00 AM. Parents should make arrangements concerning school, so that the Scouts can leave with the Troop. We are trying to arrive at West Point by noon on Friday, as we need to backpack into the Camporee site, carrying everything we need for the weekend.

6.) Please watch your e-mails and this website for additional information, West Point Medical Form and Waivers, that we will need to have prior to departure.

Weekly Reminders - April Campout, West Point, Scout O, and Summer Camp

3/26/2015

1.)Scouts should return all Troop gear on Monday, so that we can inventory and inspect everything for our upcoming trips to Western Ma. and West Point. Scouts planning on attending these two outings should be at Monday’s meeting as we begin final preparations.

2.)The next Troop outing will be a backpacking trip to Western Ma. on April 11th and 12th. The Troop will leave from the Church Parking Lot on Saturday morning, April 11th. This will be a pack in and pack out trip, we will be reviewing everything at Monday’s Meeting. Scouts that have not acquired backpacking equipment should see either Mr. Rhodes or myself, as the Troop has some equipment that can be loaned out. Scouts should sign-up on Monday if they plan on attending this outing.

3.)The West Point Camporee countdown has begun, and Scouts and Adults signed up to attend. (Please see second e-mail) should make sure that they have signed up for the Class “B” shirt and Fleece Jacket to ensure that we have them ordered by Tuesday. Please take time to read and address the “West Point” e-mail coming out later today.

4.)Reminder to Scouts signed up for the Scout “O” on April 18th, to please bring in your $10.00 payment for this event. The Troop will be leaving from the Church Parking Lot at 7:30 AM on Saturday, April 18th for this event. Scouts will need a compass for this event.  More information to follow, as the date draws closer.

5.)Please add to your calendar a potential training hike for West Point on April 19th. If we can get everything organized and the weather cooperates, we would like to get the Troop organized for the West Point Trip and potentially take care of a few advancement requirements.

6.)Once again, Scouts should be turning in their Merit Badge Selection sheets for Summer Camp. Please see the previously e-mailed Summer Guide for Parents for this information. Additionally, final payment for Summer Camp is due on May 1st, if you wish to take advantage of the previously submitted “early bird” discount.

7.)Scouts and parents should be looking at their calendars to see if the June 27th thru 29th outing to Nantucket is feasible. We are trying to gauge the level of interest in planning the trip for this year or wait until next year, so please let us know.

8.)Please turn in your BSA medical forms for summer camp and for the Troop’s records, as we cannot travel to West Point or other outings without this information. For Summer Camp we need Parts “A”, “B” and “C”, but only Parts “A” and “B” for other trips.  Please see me if you have any questions.

1.)On Monday, March 23, Mrs. Jennings will be at the Troop meeting to review and instruct First Aid for advancement. This is a good opportunity to review and work towards fully understanding the First Aid Requirements for Advancement and work towards getting them signed off.

2.)Scouts should remember to bring in their Merit Badge Selection sheets for Summer Camp, which can be found in the Hidden Valley Parent’s Guide, which in addition to being attached to several previous Troop e-mails, is attached to this e-mail as well. Scouts should chose 4 Merit Badge options and list in order of priority, so that we can get them properly registered for Summer Camp. Additionally, the BSA Medical Forms (Parts “A”, “B” and “C”) should be filled out and turned in, properly filled out with NO attachments, by June 1st. The BSA Medical Form is also attached to this e-mail.

3.)If you would like the early bird discount to count towards your summer camp, final payment is due by May 1st. Please see Parent’s Guide for payment information.

4.)Please sign-up for the red Class “B” shirt and fleece jacket is you need one or have out grown your old one. The shirt is $7.00 and the fleece jacket is a Troop gift to the Scouts, providing they turn in their “used” jacket and/or shirt….one per Scout/Adult please. The Class”B” shirt and fleece jacket along with the Class “A” uniform is required at West Point, so please sign up, as we need to place the order in the coming weeks.

5.)Reminder that the Troop will be conducting an Eagle Court of Honor for Alex Klein on Saturday, May 30th starting around 4:30 PM.  Please note this event on your calendar, as it is expected that all Scouts in the Troop participate in this important ceremony.

6.)There will be a sign-up sheet at Monday’s Meeting for our April Outing. It is likely to be a mini backpacking trip in preparation for West Point. Please sign up if you plan to attend, so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.

7.)Reminder that the West Point Trip will be held over the May 1st  thru May 3rd weekend. The Troop will be leaving early on Friday Morning, May 1st. We will begin planning for this trip in the coming weeks so that everyone is prepared for this event. Presently, we are starting a waiting list, so please see me if you didn’t sign-up but would like to attend.

8.)There will be a sign-up sheet at Monday Night’s Meeting to better understand the level of interest in having a bike trip to Nantucket, June 27ththru 29th. We understand that the School calendar has changed, so we need to decide what arrangements need to be made for a June Outing. Please sign-up if you are interested and able to attend this event.
