Lions' Club Auction

1/27/2011

Hi Everyone,

I am a little disappointed that only 3 Scouts signed up to help out at this year’s Lions’ Auction. The Lions are willing to help support the Troop with summer camp, but it only seems fair that we help them out as well. I will also mention that the notion of, already having enough service hours for rank advancement is not true to Scouting Spirit…another requirement to rank advancement. Please respond via return e-mail if you are planning on helping out this Sunday. The shifts are 2-4, 4-6 and 6-8.

Troop 42 - Adult Committee Meeting

1/26/2011

Hi Everyone,

I think we should postpone tonight’s meeting until Friday, due to the uncertainty of the weather forecast and a few adults that cannot make tonight meeting. So I would like to reschedule for Friday, January 28 at 7:30 at the Jennings’ residence at 5 Arthur Road. Please let me know if this works or doesn’t work, as I would like to have a good attendance so that we can put together the remainder of the Scouting year.

Ski Trip

1/21/2011

 Hi Everyone,

The Scouts will be leaving for Pat’s Peak tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 22 at 10:30 AM. Everyone should bring the following items;

1.)Proper clothing for skiing and tubing…..expected to be quite cold this weekend.

2.)Change of clothes for hanging out and sleeping in the Ski Lodge.

3.)Sleeping Bag, Sleeping Pad and Pillow for “roughing it” in the Lodge. Basically we are sleeping on the floor once Pat’s Peak closes for the night.

Ski Trip - Weather Forecast

1/21/2011

For all those going on the ski trip this weekend:

The weather forecast for the Pat's Peak area on Saturday are for a high of about 17 degrees when we get there and dropping down to single digits before 10pm. Wind chill will make that feel like -3 degrees. At these temperatures, frostbite is a serious risk. Scouts who are not properly prepared will not be going.

Remember, bring multiple layers of warm clothing. Face masks will help prevent frostbitten cheeks. Scarves and neck warmers will also help. Proper gloves/mittens and glove warmers will help prevent frostbitten fingers. Even so, we expect that the scouts will keep an eye on themselves and go inside to warm up regularly.

Merit Badge University - Adult Volunteers

1/19/2011

Hi Everyone,

Once again this year the representatives at Old Colony Council have asked that each Troop that participates in M.B.U. should try and send at least two adult volunteers each Saturday to lend a hand making the event a success.

Adults can volunteer to teach a class (training will be required) or just lend a helping hand with hall monitoring, parking, directing Scouts, etc. Please let me know if you can make one or all the Saturdays from 8:00 – 12:00, March 5th, 12th and 26th. I will be putting up a sign-up sheet on Monday, but if you can respond via return e-mail by Thursday afternoon that would be even better, as we are trying to get all the paperwork in by Friday morning. Please rest assured that no late volunteers will be turned down. J

Troop 42 - Ski Trip

1/19/2011

Hi Everyone,

Looks like we still need  one more driver to bring us back on Sunday, I was fortunate enough to have one adult volunteer to drive us up on Saturday, but cannot stay over.  Need someone that has enough room for 3-4 Scouts. Please let me know as soon as possible if anyone can help us out with the transportation coming back on Sunday.

Thank you in advance for your help.
