For all those going on the ski trip this weekend:
The weather forecast for the Pat's Peak area on Saturday are for a high of about 17 degrees when we get there and dropping down to single digits before 10pm. Wind chill will make that feel like -3 degrees. At these temperatures, frostbite is a serious risk. Scouts who are not properly prepared will not be going.
Remember, bring multiple layers of warm clothing. Face masks will help prevent frostbitten cheeks. Scarves and neck warmers will also help. Proper gloves/mittens and glove warmers will help prevent frostbitten fingers. Even so, we expect that the scouts will keep an eye on themselves and go inside to warm up regularly.
