Hi Everyone,
A few Troop reminders of what is coming up;
1.)Tonight, Friday, March 25 the Troop will be holding the Silpada Jewelry Party Fundraiser at the Church from 7:00 – 9:00. Parents should pass the word along to friends to please try and stop by to support Scouting and the Troop, in its efforts to raise money for Gettysburg and other trips. Scouts do not need to attend this event, just parents and friends.
2.)Monday night, March 28th, Scouts that need to attend the Selectman’s meeting for MBU should plan on being at Town Hall by 6:30 in uniform. Likely that we will need a couple of parents to stay and drive the Scouts from the Town Hall back to the Church after the meeting.
3.)On April 2nd , the Scouts will be holding a car wash fundraiser. Scouts should sign up at Monday’s meeting. This event will run from 9:00 till we run out of cars to wash…likely 2:00 or so.Funds raised will help support our Troop in traveling to Gettysburg this summer, so any Scout attending that event in July should plan on lending a hand.

4.)On April 9th , the Troop will be cleaning the parking lot at the Church. We do this annually as a community service Project, helping out the organization that sponsors Troop 42 and allows us to use the building for all of our events. All Scouts in the Troop should plan on attending for some portion of the work. The work will begin around 8:30. Scouts should bring brooms and shovels to help clean up the sand from the parking lot.
5.)On April 9th, Nick Blelloch will be holding a car wash to raise funds for his Eagle Project. Scouts should plan on helping Nick at some point during the day. Nick will be resuming the work on his Project sometime in early June.
6.)Scouts that attended the campout in March should bring in $22.00 to cover the cost of the food and camp reservation. Please try and bring the money in on Monday.
7.)Scouts should remember to bring in all Troop equipment on Monday, so that it can be inspected and put back in the trailer.
8.)Reminder that the $200.00 deposit for all Scouts attending Philmont in 2012 is due by April 11th. This is a mandatory deposit required to hold your spot in the crew for Philmont. Once the date has come and gone, remaining spots will be opened up to other Troops, so please get you deposit in on time.
9.) Final payments for summer camp are due by May 2. For those Scouts that got the early deposit in, the remaining amount will be $290.00 and for the rest of the Troop the total payment will be $350.00. Any payment received after May 1 will be for $365.00. Scouts should be bringing in updated medical forms which are due to summer camp by June 1st.
10.)Scouts planning on going to Gettysburg this summer should bring in a $50.00 deposit so that we can “hold” the bus for the trip. If all the fundraisers go well, hopefully we can keep this trip below $100.00 for the Scouts.
11.)The April Troop outing, location to be determined, will be held on the weekend of April 16th – 18th. Tentatively, planning a trip to New Hampshire to try some zip lining, open to suggestions for alternate trips in April.
12.)In May, the Troop is still planning a trip to New York to be involved in a canoe regatta, and visit the Baseball Hall of Fame over Memorial Day Weekend.
13.)Scouts are reminded that on April 2nd from 4:00 – 7:00, Pack 193 will be holding its annual Blue and Gold Dinner, they have asked for a few volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up. Please let me know on Monday if you can lend a hand. Scouts that attend will be fed and entertained, and should plan on being there by 3:30 PM
That should be about all for this week, please let me know if you have any questions.
Mr. Jennings
