Hi Everyone,
A few weekly reminders of some Troop happenings;
1.) On Saturday, December 4th, the Troop will be providing community service to the Lions Club, by helping the Holiday Festival crafters carry their items out from the building. Scouts should meet at the OA Hall on Main Street at 4:30 PM. Then again on Sunday at 10:00 AM the Lions could use some help. If you cannot find me, please ask any Lions member for Mr. Morgan. Scouts should wear the Class “A” uniform, at least under a jacket if it is cold, so that people know who we are.
2.) The Troop will not be selling cider this year, only providing the Community Service.
3.) The December campout will be at Mt. Washington State Forest in Western MA. The Troop will be leaving from the Church at 7:30 AM on Saturday, December 18th. This will be a backpacking trip with everything we need being carried in and out. More information and “training” for winter camping will be provided at the upcoming Monday night meetings.
4.) Several Scouts still need to turn in dues, medical forms and payments for the last two campouts. Please turn in all payments and paperwork by next Monday night. If you are not sure if you are all caught up with these items, please see me Monday night.
5.) All Scouts should be reimbursing the Patrol for food on the last two campouts, if you do not know how much or if you paid, please talk with your Patrol Leader.
6.) There will be a PLC meeting on Sunday, December 5th, at Jacob Jennings’ house. The meeting will be held at 4:00. All Youth Scout Leadership, and others Scouts interested in planning the upcoming meetings and outings should plan on attending. I keep hearing about the Scouts wanting the Troop to be more “Boy Lead”, well this is the opportunity to pull it all together.
7.) The Court of Honor has been rescheduled for January 10th. Scouts should finish up any outstanding advancement before then. This includes finishing up the Pathfinder and Carpentry Merit Badges, as they are only being offered this year, for Scouting’s Centennial.
8.) Unfortunately, the Troop will not be attending Winter Trek in Vermont this January, as they have “sold out”. It is a first come, first serve event, and other Troops filled all the openings back in September/October with full payments. So, next year, we will need Scouts to commit to the event early if they wish to attend. So if anyone has any great outdoor adventure ideas for January, please let us know.
9.) Please watch your e-mails for the announcement of our next adult committee meeting, as it is a busy time of year, and we will try and squeeze one in when we can. Otherwise, we can regroup in January.
Please feel free to call with any questions.
